Des Has 4 Amazing Hometown Dates, Who Will She Send Home?

Des heads to Zak's hometown first and she helps him with the family business which is snow cone trucks. Zak then dresses up as a penguin, Des is totally enamored because she likes spontaneity. Zak's mom is very welcoming towards Des and loves her and Zak together. His family is witty and fun. Zak's sister sees this as the happiest Zak has been. He wrote a song for Des that his sister and brother sing to her, then he gives her a ring that he bought for her in Atlantic City and he kept with him the whole time. To top it all off, he tells Des he loves her.

Drew's hometown is up next. He tells Des who she is going to meet, and included in that is his sister Melissa who is severaly disabled. There are a ton of people at Drew's moms house! Drew's father says they would be blessed to have her in their family. Drew's mom believe that her son has found the one. He certainly genuinely seems to love Des, the question is, what are feelings towards him? Des says Drew's family is full of love and life. Drew also goes ahead and tells Des that he loves her.

Third up is Chris's hometown. What I notice watching Chris and Des play baseball together is that there is a definite chemistry and attraction, it's stronger than the other two guys so far. Des has sketched her journey with Chris. Next they go to his parent's home, the most awesome part of all this is that Chris's dad is a chiropractor and he gives her an adjustment, she must feel great. I can attest to it, I get it done every once in a while. Then Chris goes to talk to his dad who gives him a nose adjustment! That, I have never heard of. Chris's mom gives Chris her blessing and she cries. Des isn't prepared to say goodbye to Chris.

Last is Brooks's hometown, and he sees this meeting as one more step in their journey. Des made a list of all the things they've done together so far. They then go on a canoe ride. Brooks has a huge family, and Des is seeking their approval. That is the only man she has made that statement about. Brooks's mom asks if he is husband material, and she says yes. Brooks thinks he can make Des happy forever, and his mom thinks that they are compatible. When Des leaves, Brooks feels that they are closer than ever before.

Zak was sent home; he looked shocked like someone knocked the wind out of him.

Des tells Zak he is loving and great and she doesn't ever want him to lose that. Des tells him he deserves the best and gives him back the ring he gave her.

My Favorite Things: July 2013

Devious Maids on Lifetime, Sunday's at 10pm-- I've only watched the first two episodes so far but I am already hooked on this addictive drama centered around Latina maids and the families that they work for.

I love the characters, and the cast is impressive.

The maids:

Ana Ortiz (Hilda on Ugly Betty) plays Marisol Duarte, the educated maid who everyone is eager to get to know better. Unknown to everyone else, she is trying to get her son off for Flora's murder in the first episode. She works for the Powell's (husband Adrian raped Flora) and the Stappord's.

Dania Ramirez play Rosie Falta, the sweet yet sassy mom who is trying to bring her young son to the U.S. from Guadalajara. She is widowed so she came here to make a better life for her son. She works for the Westmore's and recently discovered that wife Peri is cheating on her husband Spence. Rosie is torn about revealing the truth.

Roselyn Sanchez (Elena Delgado on Without a Trace) plays Carmen Luna, the sexy maid who wants to be a singer. She was hurt in the past and doesn't feel ready for another relationship. She works for Alejandro Rubio played by Matt Cedeno (Brandon Walker on Days of Our Lives). Sam, who works with Carmen, has a wicked crush on her.

Edy Ganem plays Valentina Diaz, a teenager with strong character. She works with her mom Zoila played by Judy Reyes (Carla on Scrubs) at the Delatour house. Valentina wants to go to school to be a designer, and is head over heels for Genevieve Delatour's (Susan Lucci of All My Children) son Remi who just moved back home from school. Zoila is dependable and gives her daughter plenty of tough love when it comes to her wanting a relationship with Remi. She believes that the rich boy will never fall for the help.

Method Liquid Hand Soap in Fig & Rhubarb $3.95-- What smells absolutely delicious, keeps your hands clean, and is naturally derived? This soap!

Hello! Folded Cards by Felix Doolittle 8 for $18.00-- Hello!, it's exactly the product I always look for and it has amazing Felix Doolittle imagery. The idea of colors matched with themes is ingenious as is the fun packaging. The $18 price point allows FD fans who normally don't buy the product to get a box of cards at a fabulous price. My faves include-- Lantern, Daydream, Beachcombing, Movie Night, and Celebration ..... oh wait, actually, I like them all.

Skechers GOWalk's -- Never ever have my feet felt so good after being on them for eight hours and I owe it all to Skechers GOWalk's. No this is not an advertisement. I have bad feet, always have, probably always will, these shoes are a savior, they come in many different colors and styles, and if you work in retail, they pass for shoes instead of sneakers.

GOWalk Men

Not to knock Skechers at all, but you can get a great deal on them at Famous Footwear.

Marimekko Ritva-- When I first saw the new bedding at Crate & Barrel, I thought, oh no, more of the same, until I fell in love when I saw Ritva. The colors are so fresh and the design is so bold and inspired. I just know that my bedding collection will not be complete if I don't add this to it. The wonderful thing about it is that it could be used year around, there's really no specific season for Ritva, and I think women and men alike will appreciate the versatility.

Get Lucky by Daft Punk Featuring Pharrell and Treasure by Bruno Mars-- I know everyone is talking about Blurred Lines By Robyn Thicke featuring Pharrel and T.I. and Mirrors by Justin Timberlake but I much prefer the 70's inspired beats in Get Lucky and Treasure. Is it just me or is that old school Motown sound back and better than ever? Pharrell, anything he touches lately, turns to gold, Get Lucky is so old school and infectious I could listen all day. I went to see Bruno Mars a few weeks ago, and he reminds me of why I really love music. Treasure is sweet with simple lyrics and a positive message in a sea of sex and violence that is today's music scene.

n.b. I could not find an official video for Get Lucky

Des Makes James Take the Heat in Barcelona

Drew receives the first one on one date in Barcelona; she's excited about this date because she thinks Drew is reserved but romantic. Drew tells Des about his father who was an alcoholic but got help and years later he was diagnosed with a terminal form of cancer. Des feels they've bonded. They then have an intimate dinner and Drew whisks Des off to a private spot to share a series of kisses. I think Drew is definitely Bachelor material if he doesn't get scooped up by Des first. Des tells Drew that he is strong and emotional and gives him a rose. He tells Des about what James said and he repeatedly apologizes to Des.

Kasey, Brooks, James, Chris, Juan Pablo, and Michael go to one of the pro soccer stadiums in Spain and play soccer with Des and a professional women's team. They totally kick the guys butt because James is goalie and it totally out of it. Juan Pablo is totally in his element.

The guy hang out with Des later that night. During her one on one time with Chris, Des read a poem that she wrote for him.

Kasey and some of the other guys confront James about what he said. James said that what he said he was kidding about and he didn't really ever say he wanted to be the next Bachelor. He said the whole conversation was guy talk. James explains himself to Des and says he didn't say anything along the lines of what she was told. He says that he only had guy talk with Mikey T. and that's it.

I will say from my perspective that I do believe that James and Des developed a bond and there was definitely something there. It doesn't seem like all the guys hate James, it seems like some of them are definitely more involved in trying to dismantle him than others. I think Des was levelheaded in her conversation with James and she did the right thing by letting herself think about it.

Her next one on one date is with Zak W., who has been a favorite of mine since the beginning. Des loves his fun energy. They go to a painting studio and a male model comes in with a robe and disrobes. Zak leaves smiling and then comes in with a robe and takes it off and is standing in his underwear. It looks like they are eating dinner in a cave? I am unsure of where they are. Des loves how engaging Zak is, and she trusts him 100%, she doesn't question her relationship with him at all. She gives him a rose, and they seem to be kissing in an alley way as well, reminiscent of her kiss with Drew.

The following day, Des pulls James aside again and I feel like he does come across as very sincere and I think he does have feelings for Des. They talk and James tells her not to cry and praises her for being strong, and he tells her that whatever her decision is, he respects her for it. Once again, Des decides that she needs more time and doesn't send James home.

Kasey, James, and Juan Pablo are sent home---

With Kasey, she had no chemistry so I totally get it.

With James, perhaps she got tired of his sweet talking. I wanted to give James the benefit of the doubt but when he started back at the hotel with the guys after he had just spoken with Desiree, it told me that maybe he was guilty of something.

With Juan Pablo, I don't understand why she didn't keep him around another week and have a one on one with him because she had more chemistry with him than with Michael for sure.
