Dancing with the Stars Season 29: Week 2

Nev and Jenna danced a Cha Cha Cha-- I am a bit let down that they went first because Nev has so much charisma. I was a little bit nervous because last week he danced a more slow dance. This is definitely more upbeat but he did great. Score: 21/30

Skai and Alan danced a Samba-- Such a shame that she had that mistake about a third of the way through the dance. It really threw her off her game. The dance had lots of great parts but it was clear she was a little shaken from the mistake. Hopefully she comes back big next week. Score: 15/30

Johnny and Britt danced a Tango-- It's so entertaining to watch Johnny dance. I would say that the judges' comments are right on. His foot work is a bit messy and at times looks odd. The tango needed to be a little bit more staccato in terms of movement like Bruno said. Score: 18/30

Justina and Sasha danced a Foxtrot-- This was really beautiful and I love how joyful she is when she dances. Yes, of course at times, her foot work could have been neater but overall great. Score: 21/30

Monica and Val danced a Jive-- I can tell Monica is a perfectionist. I think she needs to stay out of her head. I can see her overthinking the steps as she is dancing. Bruno commented that the timing was off. Score: 16/30

AJ and Cheryl danced a Foxtrot-- I actually really loved this. AJ dedicated the dance to his wife and you could really see his showmanship in the dance. Kudos to Cheryl for some awesome choreography. She seemed to play to AJ's strengths but it was also good to see him really step up to the plate. Score: 19/30

Anne and Keo danced a Foxtrot-- These two are one of my fave pairings. Derek loves this partnership. He says Anne is too tense on top and needs to relax. I love how much she trusts Keo but she needs to also have enough self confidence in her dancing abilities to be able to stand alone. Anne is a confident woman so this should be something she is able to do. Score: 18/30

Nelly and Daniella danced a Cha Cha Cha-- I loved this dance! I could see that Nelly really put in some work and wanted to do well with this dance. Carrie Ann told him to do better on his turns and watch his shoulders. Derek loved the timing. Score: 18/30

Chrishell and Gleb danced a Rumba-- This was the biggest improvement from week one to week two. She did great. The dance really seemed to come from her heart. Bruno loved her lines and shapes but told her to work on connecting them. Derek told her to focus on her foot work. Score: 18/30

Charles and Emma danced a Cha Cha Cha-- I actually felt like this was an improvement over last week. The main message from the judges was to work on foot work. Score: 15/30

Jesse and Sharna danced a Foxtrot-- This is another one of my favorite pairings this season. I thought this was a solid dance, and Jesse has loads of potential. Bruno tells him to watch his bum, posture, and foot work. Carrie Ann believes he did watch some of those and tells him to watch his foot work. Score: 20/30

Jeannie and Brandon danced a Cha Cha Cha-- I love Jeannie's energy. She is someone I thought did a better job last week. The judges all seemed to say similar things-- watch your shoulders, don't lean so far back, foot work, pull back some. Score: 18/30

Carole and Pasha danced a Viennese Waltz-- Carrie Ann thought it was simple but suited her. Everyone seemed to feel this was an improvement over the disaster that was last week. Score: 16/30

Vernon and Peta danced a Paso Doble-- This dance really suits Vernon. It brought out his strength and masculinity which obviously comes naturally to him. Bruno and Derek both told him to work on shaping for the Paso. Carrie Ann loved that he corrected himself with timing but wants him to dance bigger. Score: 18/30

Kaitlyn and Artem danced a Foxtrot-- The most put together and beautiful dance of the night. I love how Kaitlyn was so committed and danced through the pain. Carrie Ann and Derek both thought it was a beautiful performance. Bruno said she filled the space like a ballerina. Score: 22/30

Bottom 2 was Carole and Pasha and Charles and Emma

Unfortunately the judges decided to save Carole.

My prediction for the bottom two next week is Carole and Skai or Monica

Dancing with the Stars Season 29-- Everything is New Again

I did not have any types of expectations for checking out this season of Dancing with the Stars. Tom and Erin are gone. Tyra Banks is hosting.  I loved her hosting America's Next Top Model, but to be honest, she seemed somewhat out of place on DWTS. I miss Len being there as a judge. I believe, due to COVID, he is staying in England. Derek Hough is a welcome addition as a judge. I love his feedback and trust his expertise as a dancer.

The professional dancers and their partners this year however are collectively one of the best casts that DWTS has ever had-- minus Carole Baskin of course. She is simply ridiculous and I have no idea how/ why she is there. It should be short lived unless America has completely gone crazy. I expect her to go home first.

AJ McLean from The Backstreet Boys is partnered with Cheryl Burke-- I think that is such a great partnership. Yes he slipped at the beginning of the jive but I think he is someone who will improve. Score: 18/30

Chrishell Strause from Selling Sunset, I knew her first from Days of Our Lives is partnered with Gleb-- This is so perfect for her, Gleb is awesome. I actually think that the judges were too hard on her considering she did a tango. Score: 13/30

Vernon Davis is an NFL Football Player and Super Bowl winner and is partnered with Peta-- Athletes always do well on this show, and I am willing to bet Vernon will be no exception. He does have great stage presence. Score: 17/30

Anne Heche is a TV and movie actress and is partnered with Keo-- This is actually one of my favorite pairings this season. Anne is a pleasant surprise to me and a breath of fresh air. I love how different she and Keo are but how well they mesh together. Their cha cha cha was fabulous. Score: 18/30

Jeannie Mai is a co-host on the Real Reel and is partnered with Brandon-- This salsa had a lot packed into it. She handled it well. I can see these two remaining friends when this is all over. I think she will grow in this competition. Score: 18/30

Jesse Metcalfe is an actor, most well known for Desperate Housewives and the soap Passion is partnered with Sharna-- I am obsessed with this spicy partnership. I definitely think Jesse has a lot of work to do but if he listens to Sharna and works hard-- he is going to have all the ladies out there voting for him. Score: 18/30

Skai Jackson is an actress and YouTuber and is partnered with current winner Alan-- I don't know much about Skai, I will be honest, but I think she is absolutely lovely and was definitely the best dancer of the night. Score: 21/30

Kaitlyn Bristowe is a former bachelorette and is partnered with Artem-- Another great pairing. I really enjoy watching these two and you can tell that Kaitlyn is really giving it her all and taking it seriously. I think she is one to watch. Score: 20/30

Nev Schulman is the host of Catfish and is partnered with Jenna-- This was probably the biggest surprise of the night. Nev was polished and came off like a total gentleman. I am so looking forward to seeing him dance again. Kudos to Jenna for this memorable foxtrot. Score: 20/30

Johnny Weir is an Olympic Figure Skater, US Champion, and Commentator and is partnered with newcomer Britt-- I love the dynamic between these two. This is going to be one of the fun pairings to watch this year. Both of them have great personalities and athletic ability. Score: 18/30

Justina Machado is an actress and is partnered with Sasha-- Justina moves so much better than I thought she would. She is really great, and I think Sasha is the perfect partner for her. She is someone else I am going to enjoy watching throughout the season. Her confidence is just so big. Score: 21/30

Charles Oakley is a retired NBA star and is partnered with Emma-- What Charles has going for him is his sheer competitiveness and athletic ability. Emma has her work cut out for her though-- this will not be easy because Charles isn't a natural dancer. Score: 12/30

Monica Aldama is a cheer coach and is partnered with Val. Monica was one of the surprises of the night. I suppose she is one of those competitive people-- so similar mindset to an athlete. Score:  19/30

Nelly is an award winning rapper and is partnered with Daniella-- Nelly is entertaining to watch, I will definitely give him that. What he will require throughout the competition is the fine tuning. he needs to work on being sharper, all his moves, and how he finishes each move. Score:16/30

Carole Baskin is _______, I won't say it, draw your own conclusions and fill in the blanks is partnered with Pasha-- This dance was absolutely horrible and she has got to be the one going home. Score: 11/30
