6. I will lead America towards energy independence.
7. I will give Americans more control over and access to health care with affordable and portable free-market solutions.
8. I will increase adoptions, decrease abortions, and protect the quality of life for our children.
9. I will reform the legal system and appoint strict constructionist judges.
10. I will ensure that every community in America is prepared for terrorist attacks and natural disasters.
11. I will provide access to a quality education to every child in America by giving real school choice to parents.
12. I will expand America’s involvement in the global economy and strengthen our reputation around the world.

MIKE HUCKABEE: date of birth- 8.24.55; married to Janet Huckabee, three children- John Mark, David, and Sarah; Baptist; Ouachita Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; Businessman and Baptist Minister.

MIKE’S ISSUES and what stood out:
* Mike has a 9 point plan for immigration and border enforcement-
1. Build the fence
2. Increase the border control
3. Prevent amnesty
4. Enforce the law on employers
5. Establish an economic border
6. Empower local authorities
7. Ensure document security
8. Discourage dual citizenship
9. Modernize the process of legal immigration
* Pro-Life- is also against partial birth abortion and embryonic cell research
* Huckabee believes that music and arts are not extra curricular activities in school and every child should be provided with music and arts classes in school
* Huckabee wants to give people more control over their health care and more options. He believes “jobs do not need health care, people do”. Health care should not be “employer based but rather, consumer based”.
* Believes in free trade but fair trade
* Americans are not “overtaxed”, the government “overspends”.
* Marriage is a union between one man and one woman
* Does not believe a timetable should be set for the withdrawal of the troops. Huckabee is more focused on winning the war rather than withdrawing from it.
* Will expand the army and increase the defense budget
* Supports being an ally to Israel and supports a free and democratic Cuba
