BigCountry sand I Put a Spell on You by Screamin' Jay Hawkins-- This is a big song and it makes sense that such a larger than life personality would be singing it. I love the depth in his voice. Adam pitched winning last season and said it would be great to do go through the season together. Queen said BigCountry has "it". Riley said country is about telling a story, and he said he was drawn to his performance. BigCountry brought out his mom, wife, and two army friends. His wife loved Queen and so he chose Queen.
Joe Henley sang Anymore by Travis Tritt-- There are some pitch issues with Joe's performance, he is 19, but I see so much potential with him. Kelly and Riley turned which makes complete sense to me. He has an old school country sound. Riley went on stage to sing with him. Joe picked Riley.
Hazel Gerson sang Too Close by Alex Clare-- Kelly turned quickly right away. She has a pop vibe to her voice but it also comes across as rock. Riley turned as well. He tried to draw similarities, but Hazel just did not seem interested in him or his charm. She said choosing Kelly was an easy decision.
Marcus Ladden Jr. sang Cry Me a River by Ella Fitzgerald-- Wow, his voice was amazing. I loved how dynamic he was. Kelly and Queen turned. Kelly said those runs were so good. Queen said you stepped into my heart, I connect to your artistry. She also said she was on Broadway and Marcus has a very Broadway sound. Marcus picked Queen.
Destinee Monroe sang Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue-- I loved everything about this performance. I am with Queen. That was absolutely amazing. Adam turned and said clearly you're a rocker, please choose me, we can shred together. Queen said you rocked that song, you finished with a crescendo, I loved that entire performance. Riley said it's great to finally meet you. Adam said he was almost too late. Destiny said better late than never, and Adam said it was almost never. Destinee picked Adam.
Brinkley and Ferryn Wright sang When Will I Be Loved by Linda Ronstadt-- Queen said you are a world I wanna live in. Riley said it brought him back to when he first heard country music. Kelly said she won with a group-- Girl Named Tom. Adam said make a choice that is strange to make at the time and it will pay dividends. I know what you're thinking-- Riley Green is over there, sexy ass. And then Kelly just tells you all the good things you wanna hear. Queen and I are on the outskirts of this, we may have to team up. They chose Riley.
Forte-- no one turned
Caroline Alexis sang Take Me There by Rascal Flatts-- Riley was the only one who turned, and interestingly enough, Caroline is from Alabama, just like Riley. I do think she played the performance a little too careful, but I think she has potential.
Mia Knight sang You Stole the Show by Sienna Spiro-- What a stunning performance. I loved the song, and she showed poise beyond her years. Queen knew immediately and turned. Riley and Kelly turned as well. I am little surprised Adam didn't turn. Apparently there is a new twist this season called "First In" and Queen used it on Mia and won her for her team. I have to be honest, I don't love this twist as it takes the control away from the contestant. They should be able to choose their coach.
Owen Uffens sang Everybody's Talkin' by Harry Nilsson-- He has like a Lewis Capaldi sound. Love his voice, his tone is cool, such an ease. Yea, he has some pitch stuff but he's good. Adam and Kelly turned, and I think he picked the perfect coach in Adam. Kelly said his team was dreamy and she enjoyed the falsetto. Adam said you don't have to have the biggest voice to win. You just need to have a voice with the tone that is unforgettable. Queen called his performance dope.
Brianna Cameron sang River Deep Mountain High by Tina Turner-- Wow she is 13, this is not real. Everyone should have turned for Brianna. Riley and Kelly turned. Brianna is from New Jersey and was actually on Queen's show The Equalizer. I am so surprised that Queen did not turn. Riley pitched that she deserves to be on the show and tried to lure her with his cute dog Carl. Kelly said she thought Brianna was grown. She sure sounded like she was. Brianna chose Kelly; I think this is a good match as well.
