The Voice Season 14: Team Blake and Team Alicia Perform

Team Blake

Spensha Baker sang Smoke Break by Carrie Underwood-- I think Spensha is so unique, and her voice is magic. She has such a sweet and stable tone to her voice, I wanted to hear more. Kelly said she will be a force in country music. Blake says she is one of his favorites.

WILKES sang Don't Speak by Doubt-- I love this song but I did not like the arrangement. His vocals were strong though. The coaches loved it. Blake said he loved his song choice. Adam said Blake would have broke his back if he did a mic drop that way WILKES did. Adam said that was the illist improvisation he has ever seen. Alicia called him special.

Pryor Baird sang 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton-- I loved Pryor's rendition of this, he is someone who I am always interested in whatever he is going to sing. I find myself curious on what his version will be. Adam said Pryor you're amazing, you need to be on this show, there are all these songs I need to hear you sing. Blake said you do deserve to be on this show. I don't know where you get this range from.

Austin Giorgio sang Love Yourself by Justin Bieber-- How cool that he is singing this. Alicia said you have such a light inside you. She likes that he has his own style. Blake said you've earned your place moving forward because there's no one else like you on this show.

Gary Edwards sang America the Beautiful-- Interesting choice but he sang that beautifully. Kelly said I like how you did this tonight and Bruno Mars last night, it shows true artistry. Blake said you kicked the door in and said I want to win this thing.

Team Alicia:

Terrence Cunningham sang Ain't Nobody by Chaka Kahn-- It started out a little bit slow for me, but he stepped it right up. This performance was so smart, and Adam is right, what he does is so difficult. Adam said what you do is so complicated and sophisticated, and I don't know if people understand that. Alicia said you're so special, you arrange all your own music.

Christiana Danielle sang Take Me to Church by Hosier-- I don't love this song, but I do love Christiana. Kelly said you may be the greatest person on this show. She said I am in love with you, the alto in you is just sexy. Alicia said you were amazing.

Jackie Foster sang Alone by Heart-- Jackie is personally one of my favorite people on the show. Her vocals are just crazy! She honestly gave the performance of the night last night. Alicia said you have a clear sense of who you are. She said you effortlessly go to these places, and I am just like where did she go? How did she get there? That was flawless.

Kelsea Johnson sang Need You Bad-- I didn't love that actually..... Alicia compares her to Lauryn Hill. I suppose I could see it, but Lauryn was more raw and a little more credible.

Johnny Bliss sang One and Only by Adele-- I actually loved that performance. His interpretation of the song was so special and unique. Alicia says Johnny has a beautiful energy, he's one of a kind, and has a powerful voice.

My predictions--

Team Blake picks: Pryor and WILKES or Spensha

Team Alicia picks: Terrence and Jackie

The Voice Season 14: The Knockouts Bring Me to Life

Not only do the coaches have steals this year but they also have a save where they can save one of their own team members.

Team Blake: Kyla Jade sang You Don't Know Me by Leslie Gore vs. Jaclyn Lovey sang Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae-- Blake's adviser was his winning team member from last season Chloe Kohanski who I absolutely loved. Overall, Kyla was the winner. I did feel, however, that the performance got away from her at the end, it was a little bit out of control on the vocal. Jaclyn lacks experience but has such a sweet vocal quality, she has natural talent. Alicia said she is so proud of how free Jaclyn is on stage, and she said Kyla, we just died with that.
Blake chose Kyla

Team Kelly: Justin Kilgore sang Shameless by Garth Brooks vs. Kaleb Lee sang Free by Zac Brown Band-- Kelly's adviser is Cassadee Pope who won Season 3 with Blake. Kaleb is my choice here, like Adam said he is pure country and the real deal. Adam also nailed the issue with Justin, he was super passionate but his vocals were not on point tonight. I think he struggled with who he is as an artist. He took it in stride. Blake regrets letting go of Kaleb, he should be! Kaleb is a contender.
Kelly chose Kaleb

Team Adam: Jackie Foster sang Bring Me to Life by Evanesence vs. Mia Boostrom sang Wade in the Water -- Adam's adviser is Jordan Smith who won Season 9! Jackie is singing one of my favorite songs and Amy Lee is one of my favorite female voices, so I totally loved this. I believe her as an alternative singer. Her vocal, especially at the end, was so strong! Mia was also strong, she took an old school gospel song and really jazzed it up. Blake said, you're two very different artists at the top of your game, Jackie, you're as good as it gets, and Mia, you're the surprise here. Kelly said you couldn't go wrong with either. Alicia said Jackie got stronger and stronger, and Mia it was amazing to hear such a warm voice. Both are awesome, I loved both and agree, he can't go wrong with either.
Adam chose Mia,
and Kelly is trying to steal Jackie back and Adam wants to save her!
Blake then jumped in to steal her as well. Adam said you told me backstage that you want to do rock and roll music and I feel I am the best to help you with that. Blake said I have never kicked you out of the house. Alicia also wants it! Alicia said I turned for you in the blinds and the battles.
Jackie chose Alicia! Wow!

Team Blake: Austin Giorgio sang Almost Like Being in Love by Frank Sinatra vs. Spensha Baker sang Broken Halos by Chris Stapleton-- These two are very different, it's kind of like matching apples and oranges against each other. Austin has so much personality and such a great voice, he sold this performance like no one's business. Spensha has a soulful vibe, she is so talented and I think has a place in country music. Alicia liked how Austin talked to the audience and liked how emotional Spensha got with the performance. Adam sees so much that is undiscovered in both of them. Blake said Austin you have a passion for entertaining and Spensha you have talent for connecting with a song.
Blake chose Spensha and saved Austin, Austin said, you really are what people say you are even behind closed doors.

Team Alicia: Johnny Bliss sang Alive by Sia vs. Miya sang Castle on the Hill by Ed Sheeran-- Alicia's adviser is Chris Blue who won with Team Alicia! I like Miya but she struggled with this song choice. Johnny was striving with this performance becacuse he made it his own. Sia songs are tough to sing and this was perfect. Blake said Miya didn't quite live up to her potential so he'd give it to Johnny. Alicia said Miya, your runs are beautiful, and Johnny you poured everything you had into this, it was pure emotion.
Alicia chose Johnny

Team Adam: Drew Cole Slow Hands by Niall Horan sang vs. Jackie Verna sang American Honey by Lady Antebellum-- What an awesome song choice for Drew, I love this. He executed this perfectly, he dirtied it up a little more than Niall which is perfect since he is a rocker. Jackie was awesome, I loved her song choice. Her power grew as the performance went on. Blake said Drew is more like Adam so he thinks Adam would lean more towards him but then again has a fetish for winning with a country artist and Jackie is a pure country artist. Adam said both were special and he didn't want to lose either one.
Adam chose Jackie, Adam c'mon steal Drew! And yes, Adam saves Drew and Blake is trying to steal him. Adam said don't be seduced by this maniac over here, you're one of my favorites on my team. Drew said, I am a loyal man, I have to pick Adam again.

Sorry all, I wanted to post videos with this, maybe I will add them tomorrow.

My picks tonight.... Kaleb Lee, Jackie Foster, Austin Giorgio, Spensha Baker, Drew Cole, and Jackie Verna! Strong performances tonight!

The Voice Season 14: I'm Starving for More Battle Rounds

Team Kelly: Amber Sauer vs. Jorge Eduardo sang Starving by Hailee Steinfeld-- I thought this was such a fun battle. I liked both of them, they're multi-talented. I think they'd adapt well which makes for a strong competitor. For me, Amber overshadowed Jorge, to me she was the presence.  Adam said Amber you're a fantastic singer, Jorge, you're so diverse in what you do. I'd go with you Jorge. Blake said Amber you have so much stage presence, you had the most fun, I'd be going with you Amber. Kelly liked how Jorge brought the guitar in, and she loved how Amber sang in Spanish.
Kelly chose Jorge

Team Adam: Davison vs. Reid Umstattd sang Love on the Brain by Rihanna--  I found this to be somewhat of an odd song choice and pairing, these two guys couldn't be more different from each other, and even for Davison this song didn't really suit him. Blake said he would go with Davison. Kelly thought both of them held their own and she didn't know who she would pick.
Adam chose Reid

Montages.....

Team Blake: Bransen Ireland vs. Jaron Strom sang Head Over Boots by Jon Pardi, Blake chose Jaron

Team Kelly: Jamella vs. Teana Boston sang Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow by Carole King, Kelly chose Jamella

Team Alicia: Johnny Bliss vs. Megan Lee sang Versace on the Floor by Bruno Mars, Alicia chose Johnny

Team Alicia: Jordyn Simone vs. Kelsea Johnson sang Don't Let Go by En Vogue-- I thought Kelsea sounded great in rehearsals but when it came to the actual performance night, I felt like her voice was strained and she faltered. Jordyn's voice was strong and soulful. There was a real fullness and roundness to her tone, and it is so hard to believe she is only 17, I'd go with her.  Adam said he'd go with Jordyn. Blake liked that rasp that Kelsea had in her voice. Kelly also said that she would go with Kelsea.
Alicia chose Kelsea, Adam pushed to steal Jordyn right behind was Kelly. Adam argued that he said Jordyn won that battle, and Jordyn chose Adam

Who did I like tonight? If Kelsea's voice heals she'll be a contender and I see Jordyn taking notes from Adam and only growing from here.

The Voice Season 14: Blind Auditions Night 3

Christiana Danielle sang Hotline Bling by Drake-- I'll be honest, it was a weird flip of the song but it was effective and it did show many sides of her voice. Adam turned immediately, shades of Christina Grimmie redoing a Drake song. Kelly turned and Alicia turned at the end. Adam said you are a gift to this show and one of the best voices I have heard in my life. Kelly said it doesn't matter who you pick, you could win this show. Alicia said I can't contain myself, where does this come from?
Christiana chose Alicia

Brett Hunter sang She's a Bad Mama Jama by Carl Carlton-- Blake is the only one who turned, and at first I thought that was about right. However, hearing him and listening to his actual voice and what he could have done had he done a better arrangement. WOW! I hope he does better songs during the competition and proves all the other coaches wrong, although I think they already feel foolish.
Blake chose Brett

Jamai sang U Got it Bad by Usher-- I loved Jamai! He is like a modern day Bobby Brown for sure. I loved his song choice and he put his own nuances on this song. Alicia liked his style. He called Kelly the epitome of music competition winners cause she started it all. This guy is going to be good, I feel it!
Jamai chose Alicia

Mitch Cardoza sang No Woman No Cry by Bob Marley-- I think no one turned because it was a little too free. The vocal was all over the place, but he has talent he should come back!

Mia Boostrom sang Pillowtalk by Zayn-- Hmmm, I kinda liked Mia but then I didn't. I felt like her voice was too low and earthy for me. I wanted that vocal to really soar more. Adam was the only one who turned, there was a reason for that in my opinion. She could have given more, this could have been better.

Jackie Foster sang What About Us by Pink-- Confused about why not everyone didn't hit their button for Jackie. I thought she was great. The musical theater thing that Kelly was talking about can be cleaned up so quickly. Her pitch is awesome and on point. Kelly and Alicia both turn and Blake decides against turning. Alicia goes for it and is very aggressive in her pursuit but.....
Jackie chose Kelly

Kayla Woodson sang Turn on the Radio by Reba-- No turns, and it was too pitchy and out of her range. That's a super tough song to sing.

Reid Umstattd sang Take Me to the Pilot by Elton John-- Great song choice but Reid's voice will need some work and power behind it. He does get Alicia and Adam to turn. Adam says he thinks Reid could win. I don't necessarily see that, but that's Adam's opinion.
Reid chose Adan

Jorge Eduardo sang Despacito by Luis Fonsi-- He came in 4h place on the Mexican version of The Voice, and got a 4 chair turn. He got Kelly Clarkson to turn for him here. He has a good voice, but will he be able to give multi dimensional performances going forward and show many different sides of himself? That's the hope.
Kelly chose Jorge

Jamella sang Dive by Ed Sheeran-- Would have loved to hear what she sounded like.

Angel Bonilla sang Lay Me Down by Sam Smith-- Again, strange, would have loved to hear the voice.

Austin Giorgio sang How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You) by Marvin Gaye-- I was not feeling this performance at all. It just sounded way too karaoke for me. Blake and Kelly turn. Blake name-checks Michael Buble.
Austin chose Blake

Johnny Bliss sang Preciosa by Marc Anthony-- This was my performance of the night! Johnny left it all out there. His vocals were strong and passionate. I truly felt the lyrics he was singing. It is crazy that Johnny has not been singing long because he is so good. Adam turned immediately, followed by Alicia and Kelly. Adam blocked Kelly! And they Blake turned. This was a rightful 4 chair turn. Blake and Kelly turn their support to Alicia, so Adam basically doesn't stand a chance. Alicia's mic drop was singing If I Ain't Got You in Spanish.
Johnny chose Alicia

Lots of good ones tonight--- I have my eye on Johnny Bliss, Christiana Danielle, Brett Hunter, and Jamai
