The Top 7 Idols sang American Classics, and each contestant was up twice. I'm going to break down which was the better of each performance.
As far as the results go, I have to say that at this point, I understand why Joey Cook went home. She is a wonderful talent; however, she did not perform well in the previous week.
Tyanna Jones sang Why Do Fools Fall in Love by Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers-- This lacked soul, she was not connected to the song at all, and it lacked that tempo that the song needs. Harry asked her if she has every watched Frankie Lymon's version, and she said no. He suggested she do so and note his groove. ......Score: 6 out of 10
I liked her second performance better, it was Proud Mary by Tina Turner, the song suited her vocals.

Clark Beckham sang Superstition by Stevie Wonder-- I feel like what's happening with Clark is that we're hearing the same types of performances over and over again, and I personally am getting a little bored. The problem was this performance is that it got real messy. Score: 6 out of 10
I liked is second performance better also, Moon River, it was classic and it may have revealed weaknesses but at the same time, it was so neccessary for us to see someone human sing this song. Score: 8 out of 10-- Total 14 out of 20
Jax sang Piece of My Heart by Janis Joplin-- I preferred this to her second performance. I really did not love either, but I felt like Piece of My Heart is more who she is than Beat It by Michael Jackson. To me, Jax reminds me of Jena Irene from last season, but I found Jena more original and more talented. For some reason, Jax seems like she is pushing hard on the vocal and it shouldn't sound like that. It also sounds like she is screaming at times, and that's something I am never a fan of. The judges overall seemed happy with her performance, even though my feeling is she could be in some trouble next week. Score: 7 out of 10 and 6 out of 10-- Total 13 out of 10
Nick Fradiani sang American Girl by Tom Petty-- I also liked this better than Nick's second performance, however, I genuinely enjoyed both performances. This may not have been very different from Tom Petty's performance, but it fit him like a glove. This was perfectly in his pocket, and he left everything out there. He sounded good, looked good, and it seemed like he had a good time with it. Jenn said he has a radio ready voice, and has grown a lot on the show. Score: 9 out of 10
For his second performance he sang Only the Good Die Young by Billy Joel-- The arrangement on this really worked to Nick's advantage. Once again, he was in that comfy pocket of his voice and it sounded great. Someone reviewed Nick's performance and said he sounds like a different person every week and I disagree with that. I think Nick has a voice that I do hear originality in, and I agree with Jenn in that his voice is radio ready. Score: 8 out of 10-- Total 17 out of 20
Quentin Alexander sang Are You Gonna Go My Way by Lenny Kravitz-- I loved the idea of Quentin doing this song, it's totally in his wheelhouse, and I see his as an artist like a Lenny Kravitz. The problem is, I wanted more from this performance, I wanted more passion, and more rocker instinct and mentality. Score: 6 out of 10
Quentin's second performance was The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkle-- there were some beautiful moments in this, but it didn't quite come together in the way that it should have. I feel like he was so distracted by Joey and Rayvon being the bottom two that he lost focus on his own performances. He could be in some trouble this week. Score: 6 out of 10 Total-- 12 out of 20

Joey sang My Funny Valentine and Somebody to Love by Jefferson Airplane-- The first performance was stronger. Unfortunately, it seemed that over the weeks, Joey lost confidence in herself, she lost that magic and sparkly in her eyes that made her so very special. Her first performance was strong and understated but being in the bottom got the best of her on her second performance.
Rayvon sang Long Train Runnin' by The Doobie Brothers and Always on My Mind by Willie Nelson-- Rayvon arguable turned in the two strongest performances of his entire Idol journey. His first performance was soulful, on point, and in terms of performance quality, he whooped everyone's ass. Jenn felt he stepped it up and he did. Score: 8 out of 10
His performance of Always on My Mind was beautiful. I felt like Rayvon connected to the song and made it his own. Jenn said she had the goosies and Harry called Rayvon essentially a ballad singer. If this all doesn't keep Rayvon out of the bottom, I don't know what will. Score: 9 out of 10 Total-- 17 out of 20

American Idol Season 14: The Top 8 Sing Pop!
Qaasim Middleton lost to Rayvon Owen on the Fan Save....... check out what transpired.
Jax sang Poker Face by Lady Gaga-- Didn't like the arrangement at all. Everything that makes that song special was gone in this version, her enunciation was weird, like pa pa pa poker face pa pa poker face. It was strange indeed. Jenn said she didn't relate to that at all, she went so far left that no one got it. Harry said she did not inhabit the song emotionally. You can't just change the arrangement, you need to tap into the emotional space.

Nick Fradiani sang Teenage Dream by Katy Perry-- This song really suited Nick, and the way he arranged it, it totally felt like him. Nick does have an intensity, but I think Keith is right in that the spirit of the song matched him. Jenn said he changed it and made it his own in the best way, I could hear it on the radio today. Harry said there were things I did and didn't like. I liked the energy, I would have liked something with grittier lyrics for you. Keith said I thought it had killer lyrics for you. I like the spirit of that song.

Quentin Alexander sang Latch by Disclosure featuring Sam Smith-- Awesome, this was one of my favorite Quentin performances, there was a sexy vibe to it. He took a risk and it paid off for him. Harry said you look great tonight, I love this song, I think you're a good rhythmic singer, and I was really digging this. There were some pitch issues, but good song for you. Keith said great song choice, the laid-back phrasing was perfect for you. Jenn said you're such an artist, I sensed that you were in your head a little bit, I loved it, loved that song, great choice for you.

I felt like the last verse/ chorus got a little out of control, I almost thought his voice was going to crack. Jenn said she could see him at the finale, and called his vocal amazing and effortless. Harry said that was very good, but what would have made it better is if he would have slowed it down.

Tyanna Jones sang Stay by Rihanna-- I believe Tyanna definitely related to the song, but there's something special about when Rihanna sings it and that x factor was missing in this performance. Harry was extremely touched. Jenn felt like Tyanna dug deep.

Rayvon Owen sang Set Fire to the Rain by Adele-- Yuck, the vocals were a sloppy mess. It was not the right choice of song for him. Jenn felt he dug, but didn't think it was the right song for him. Harry asked Rayvon what encompasses him and he said he tries to inspire people and give all glory to God.

Qaasim Middleton sang Hey Ya by Outkast-- I actually think this time around Qaasim deserved to stay and had the stronger performance. Jenn said you're a fun performer, you own that stage. Harry said American Idol is lucky to have you, I love your groove and how you're always in the pocket. Keith said you know how to make the most of what you have, playing to your strengths and being entertaining. Jenn said Qaasim has a great voice.

American Idol Season 14: We've Come Full Circle, It's Kelly Clarkson Night
Last Wednesday night was dedicated to Kelly Clarkson on American Idol. It was the first time a former champ was honored on the show with their own night, Clarkson was the first and original American Idol so it seems that things have come full circle.
I have decided for the essence of time to rank the performances in order from worst to best.......
Performance Order:
Nick Fradiani sang Catch My Breath
Jax sang Beautiful Disaster
Tyanna Jones sang Mr. Know it All
Joey Cook sang Miss Independent
Quentin Alexander sang Dark Side
Qaasim Middleton sang Stronger
Clark Beckham sang The Trouble with Love Is

Not Good:
Daniel Seavey-- under pressure, Daniel crumbled, this was not good, not by a longshot, he was out of his league for a while
Qaasim Middleton-- remaking a song does not make it better. Stripping this song back showed the many flaws in his vocals which he really needs to work on.
Middle of the Pack:
Clark Beckham-- such a great vocalist but all his performances are becoming unsoundly similar. He needs to step it up and show some other sides of himself or he's going to become very one trick pony. Nick Fradiani-- Nick is almost in the better category. His vocals are there but there needs to be more passion behind his performances. He was connected to the performance which was another plus.
Better:
Tyanna Jones-- The vocal was amazing, but there was no connection to the song. This is an upbeat song with some attitude, she should have easily been able to connect to this.
Jax-- Jax is a really artist and has all the passion in the world, but she is inconsistent in terms of vocals.
Best:
Rayvon Owen-- he sang for his life, and turned in the performance of the night. He turned Since U Been Gone into a ballad instead of an anthem. It was sad, and he dug deep.
Quentin Alexander-- the most artistic of the whole bunch. Quentin is intense and probably the best story teller of the bunch. He may not have the biggest or best voice, but what he does is powerful.
Joey Cook-- Joey made this song her own. Harry gave her an A+ for bravery and I agree. She really turned this into a jazz song with no fear, and it sounded amazing.
Who is going home? Qaasim, he's out of saves.

American Idol Season 14: Did the Right 2 Go Home?
Two weeks ago, the judges used the save on Qaasim Middleton, the question is did they use the save at the right time and on the right person? Based on who went home last Wednesday, I don't think they did. My picks to go home were Daniel Seavey and Maddie Walker. Daniel is a great kid and he does have talent but he is not growing at the rate that his fellow contestants are. Maddie is progressing and she has a great voice, but the personality doesn't match.
This week we ended up losing Maddie and Adanna Duru, who to me, was a front runner in this competition. What Maddie lacked in personality and passion, Adanna made up for, ten fold. Adanna always emoted and sometimes she lost control with her voice, but I think that is more teachable than where Daniel and Maddie were in all of this.
Daniel was actually the first one to discover that he made it through to next week. He sings You Make My Dreams Come True by Hall & Oates-- I did not love this song choice for him, and I felt like once again his vocals felt short and were weak for me. His voice cracked in a couple of places. He looks good on camera like Keith said, but honestly, I am going to be surprised if he continues to make it through. Harry said that he needs to throw the choreography away.
Score: 6 out of 10
Quentin Alexander sang In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins-- I loved this, I found the whole performance very intriguing; there was something quite haunting about it. Keith is right, Questin has so much artistry. Jenn said your cool factor was on 1000, the mood and the drama of it worked. Harry said you dig as deeply as you can into those lyrics, I would like you to switch it up to something uptempo. Keith said killer song choice for you, the weight and majesty of it suited you so well. You have so much artistry Quentin.

Joey Cook sang Girls Just Want to Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper-- I felt like the performance was a little bit lazy for me. It was not as good as it usually is, and Joey seemed like she knew it was off. Harry said she seemed to be distracted and holding back. Keith found it to be inconsistent.

Tyanna Jones said I Wanna Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston-- I agree with Harry, I liked the arrangement. It seems to me that Tyanna lost a little bit of her confidence but she sounded great, and I think she would have sounded even better if she wasn't thinking about it so much. Keith said Tyanna takes on the Whitney song really well, he said he felt like she was worried a little bit. Jenn said you aren't gonna be perfect all the time and don't be so in your head. Harry told her to fight for it every time.

Jax sang You Give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi-- Overall, I liked the performance, I felt like she kept true to the theme while also remaining true to herself. It seemed as if she got lost in the middle of the performance but she ended on a strong note. Jenn liked the 80's punk attitude and was reminded of Jax when they first met her. Harry thinks her originality brought her here and her intrigue has kept her here. He liked the beginning and end. Keith warned her not to be afraid to change the arrangement.

Nick Fradiani sang Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson-- I love Nick, he's one of my favorite voice in the competition, but he needs to have that breakout performance. Harry said he likes how much humility that Nick has. Keith told him to make sure he is smiling and just calm down. Jenn said she got caught up in the song in the end because he really started singing to them.

Clark Beckham sang Every Breath You Take by The Police-- I love the fact that Boy George wanted him to take the song down and he didn't. He stuck to his guns and committed to what he felt was right for him, and he completely nailed it. The performance was touching, the bridge sounded amazing. The judges were all sitting there hanging on every word. Keith said you took me on a journey melodically and emotionally. Jenn said the performance felt really good and it was so beautiful.

Qaasim Middleton sang Addicted to Love by Robert Palmer-- I thought this was Qaasim's best vocal to date, so he might stick around. Jenn liked that he was a bit more reserved this week. Harry said your greatest strength is your ability to perform. He said you have to forfeit the performing sometimes in order to give a better vocal. Keith said give us something more vulnerable because your voice has a beautiful quality.

Rayvon Owen sang Everybody Want to Rule the World by Tears for Fears-- I liked parts of the performance, but there were some weak spots. The judges called him out and rightfully so. Harry said it was one of his stronger interpretations, but he could do without the default falsetto. I agree, for some reason, Rayvon feels like he has to add it in every week. Jenn tells him to take a risk and go outside his comfort zone because she believes it is the only way he will grow.

The Top 11 Sing Songs from The Movies on American Idol Season 14
Adanna Duru sang I Love You I Do by Jennifer Hudson from "Dream Girls"-- Jenn said she wanted more real emotion coming from the "you're the perfect man for me". Harry thought everything was good and strong. He said to focus more on the audience, and he feels the connection will be better overall. I liked this performance a lot, Adanna, always puts so much passion into her performance. I hope she sticks around.

Daniel Seavey sang Lost Stars by Adam Levine from "Begin Again"-- Oh man, I love Daniel, but that was pitchy all over the place. Jenn thought it was okay, she felt his emotion, but didn't think it was his best performance. Harry said it wasn't strong tonight. Keith said it was a good song choice for him, but he needs to dig in a little more, and not be distracted by the audience.

Rayvon Owen sang Stayin Alive by the Bee Gees from "Saturday Night Fever"-- I liked the arrangement of the song, but I felt like falsetto sounded a little weird at times, kinda manic. Harry admired the arrangement, but said how do you remain interesting? He said give yourself some lyrics you can chew on, he said you sing the falsetto notes, but there isn't a lot of substance.

Nick Fradiani sang Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins from "Top Gun"-- Nick continues to grow in my opinion, that was a Chris Daughtry-esque performance. Keith said, I feel like you're getting more comfortable up there, and keep going in that direction. Jenn thought it was an improvement, and she thought the song and the tone was perfect for him, she told him to own it more. She said own your hotness. Harry said give yourself a song to be sexy on, I felt like that was the wrong song for you.

Joey Cook sang Mad World by Tears for Fears from "Donnie Darko"-- Joey sounded amazing in that performance, it was so focused, serious, and beautiful. Jenn said Joey gave her Sia vibes. Harry said, you always stay in your lane, but you find other ways to show different parts of yourself, amazing job. Keith said, you're such an artist, you always deliver something unusual. I heard something in that song, I have never heard before.

Tyanna Jones sang Circle of Life by Elton John from The Lion King-- I didn't like this performance, I am a big Tyanna fan, but this did not sound good, it was also pitchy all over the place. It almost sounded like she couldn't hear over the track. Harry felt she overshot the mark, he said there was some intonation issues, and it sounded like you yelled all the way through. Keith said she has beautiful tone and vibratto, but he said she had serious pitch issues.

Quentin Alexander sang You're the One that I Want by Olivia Newton John and John Travolta from Grease-- I thought the ending was a little far fetched, but overall, I liked the way he changed the song. Jenn said it was very haunting and beautiful, it didn't translate as much as you felt it. Harry said you have to think about the pitch, that was horribly out of tune.

Maddie Walker sang Let's Hear it for the Boy by Denience Williams from Footloose-- Once again, pitch was all over the place, and I thought it sounded very nasal. Harry said it wasn't very good, and I don't know who you are. Keith said he thought she should have chosen a ballad.

Clark Beckham sang Sunday Morning by Maroon 5 from Cheaper by the Dozen 2-- Clark has a beautiful voice, and such artistry. His performance was so genuine, and I really felt that. I liked that he played the guitar because it connected him more to the song. Harry said you put your arrangement on that song and knocked it out of the park. Keith said you're such a good singer. Jenn said it was beautiful and so you and you did something with it that I really loved.

Jax sang Grow Old with You by Adam Sandler from The Wedding Singer-- That was a cute performance, it's the first time in a while I have felt any heart whatsoever from her. Keith said I loved you doing that song, I thought it was beautiful. Jenn said I love that this played into the quirkiness of your voice. Harry said you're a high risk high reward kind of performer.

Qaasim Middleton sang Come Together for Judges' Save, and I am not sure if I agree with the judges or not, but they saved him nonetheless. I will say, he sounded better than he ever has, but I don't know if this will continue.

Harry said, you always stay in your lane, but you find other ways to show different parts of yourself, amazing job. Keith said, you're such an artist, you always deliver something unusual. I heard something in that song, I have never heard before.

Tyanna Jones sang Circle of Life by Elton John from The Lion King-- I didn't like this performance, I am a big Tyanna fan, but this did not sound good, it was also pitchy all over the place. It almost sounded like she couldn't hear over the track. Harry felt she overshot the mark, he said there was some intonation issues, and it sounded like you yelled all the way through. Keith said she has beautiful tone and vibratto, but he said she had serious pitch issues.

Quentin Alexander sang You're the One that I Want by Olivia Newton John and John Travolta from Grease-- I thought the ending was a little far fetched, but overall, I liked the way he changed the song. Jenn said it was very haunting and beautiful, it didn't translate as much as you felt it. Harry said you have to think about the pitch, that was horribly out of tune.

Jenn said it was beautiful and so you and you did something with it that I really loved.

The Top 8 Men and Women Are Revealed on Idol Season 14

Daniel Seavey sang How Sweet it is to be Loved by You by Marvin Gaye-- I like Daniel and he definitely sold his personality more, but the song was a little low for him. Keith thought it was a good song choice. Jenn liked how he had fun, but felt the song was too low. Harry felt that he needed to swing more with the band.

Mark Andrew sang Papa was a Rolling Stone by The Temptations-- I felt like the melody of the song got lost, so much so, it was initially unrecognizable to me. Mark has a good voice, and he is very Phillip Phillips but he needed to look more like a rock star and less like someone standing up to do karaoke. Jenn felt he didn't connect with the song. Harry thought it was too "jam band" and that if he keeps doing that, it will hurt him.

Rayvon Owen sang My Girl by The Temptations-- I loved how Rayvon changed parts of the song, but kept the melody which is what makes the song special and well liked. His runs were incredible, strong full voice, and strong falsetto. Harry told Rayvon he will eventually need to take some risks. He loved everything about the performance and thought his presence was strong, but would like to see him develop an edge.

Joey Cook sang Shop Around by The Miracles -- I liked how different this was, she made the song work for her. Keith said I look forward to always listening and hearing what you do; I agree. I did not love Joey much last week, but I loved this performance on her. Harry felt she was really unique, she is so stylized that he feels some people may begin to tire of it.

Sarina Joi Crowe sang You Really Got a Hold on Me by The Miracles-- This was probably my favorite of the night so far; Sarina is one of my fave voices in the competition, she really reaches out and touches you when she sings. Keith said Sarina's tone is so beautiful and he said it was really good. Harry told her to be careful of going flat.

Adanna Duru sang Hello by Lionel Ritchie-- What a beautiful and heartfelt performance. I think she felt it lyrically. Keith said she owned the song. Harry told her to be careful of intonation. Jenn didn't love it but loves her.

Jax sang Ain't No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell-- I love Jax and she is a favorite in this competition as Jenn pointed out, but the arrangement was a little far off. I thought her vocal was strong though, lots of grit in this. Jenn said that song didn't work for me in that way, you want it to be you, but you changed it so much that you took it away from what the song is. Harry agreed and said you have to kill it right now.

Alexis Gomez sang I Can't Help Myself by The Four Tops-- Jenn found it to be really out of pitch. Harry said he is happy that he made it, generally speaking, you have to find a way to control yourself emotionally, but you're really good. Keith said that wasn't a good song choice for you. I agree with all the judges, I love this girl, but she needs to pull everything together and present a complete package.

American Idol Season 14: The Top 12 Ladies
I was expecting the more from the girls and some of them fell very short.
Lovey James sang Love Runs Out by One Republic-- This was disappointing for me, her pitch was all over the place, and her lower register felt uncomfortable. Harry felt she did a strong job, and Keith felt as though she improved as she went along.
Adanna Duru sang Rather Be by Clean Bandit-- I loved this entire performance from beginning to end so much. Adanna is captivating to watch and listen to. The way she flipped this song, and initially slowed it down and turned it into a power ballad was unreal. Keith said she condensed that song down and within it was so much of her capabilities as a singer, and called it a really good performance. Jenn said she needs to remember to stay in control but really good. Harry said the first half of the song is the best he has ever heard her sing.
Alexis Gomez sang Gunpowder and Lead by Miranda Lambert-- I thought this was a solid performance. A lot of aspiring country singers do sing this song, but Alexis did a great job, it's not an easy song vocally. What impressed me about Alexis is her performance quality, she played to the audience and well and moved so naturally on the stage. Harry cautioned her about singing with a twang if she doesn't have one. Keith loved it, and said she didn't really need the guitar and came to life without it.
Joey Cook sang Somebody Like You by Keith Urban-- Keith is looking shocked watching Joey sing his song. There is a part of me that was fully entertained watching Joey, but I wonder how long I will be entertained by her, and if she is more than a one trick pony. Can she really sing? Because that is what American Idol is all about. Jenn said the performance showcased exactly who Joey is.
Katherine Winston sang Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift-- I like Katherine a lot, and I love this song, but I don't think it was the right song for her to sing tonight. I get that she is extremely talented, and technically she should move on to the next round. She seemed really nervous when I watched the performance back. Keith liked the song choice but told her to remember to feel the lyrics. Jenn complimented her magical quality. Harry did not think it was the right song choice.
Shannon Berthiaume sang Who Knew by Pink-- I love Pink songs, but this wasn't a good performance for Shannon, it was weak at best. She's under pitch throughout the whole song. Harry loves that she doesn't have a lot of formal experience but says she needs to step it up. Keith didn't think it was the right song choice for her, and notes how challenging Pink songs are to sing. Jenn says Shannon is a great singer and has to start believing it.
Loren Lott sang Note to God by Jojo-- I was a huge fan of Loren when she sang Skyfall during Hollywood week. She is a very emotional and dramatic singer, and that certainly comes across loud and clear every time she takes the stage. I did not love this song choice on her, if she wanted a Jojo song, she could have done Too Little Too Late. Jenn thought it was a brave performance, Harry said it was powerful, and Keith felt like she gave everyone a run for their money.
Shi Scott sang Umbrella by Rihanna-- This wins weirdest and worst performance of the night. The vocals were terrible and her pitch was all over the place. I have no idea why she was singing the song in the lower register of her voice. Keith said he didn't get it, Jenn said that the song got the best of her, and Harry thinks she is talented, but it wasn't the right song.
Maddie Walker sang Love Gets Me Every Time by Shania Twain-- This performance was "pageanty". I was a little bit bored by it, Maddie has a solid voice, and I definitely think based on past performances that I have seem that she is talented, but this was the wrong song. Keith said she could have chose so many Shania songs and that this was not the right one. Jenn agreed with Keith.
Sarina Joi Crowe sang Mamma Knows Best by Jessie J-- Sarina was one of my favorites of the night. You have to have real vocal chops to do this song justice and Sarina has that. Her tone is gorgeous. Jenn said she loves Jessie J and felt like Sarina rivaled Jessie J on that song. Keith thought it was a chill performance. Harry felt like it was a really strong performance.
Jax sang Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) by Cher-- I love Jax's creativity and originality in terms of her vocal and how she puts a performance together. I especially loved the whole beginning part of the performance. Once she slipped into the rock part of the performance, she lost a little bit of vocal control. Keith loved it and called it killer. Jenn said she will definitely make it through to next week. Harry said if she does make it through that it will be fun to watch Jax.
Tyanna Jones sang Lips Are Movin' by Meghan Trainor-- Tyanna has been so consistent up to this point, and as if she couldn't raise the bar, she raised the bar. What I noticed when listening to Tyanna is the richness of her voice, and she has soul beyond her years. Harry says she is ridiculously talented. Keith would have liked it in a higher key, but loved it. Jenn said Tyanna's talented is a gift from God.
My Predictions.... Who is going home? Lovey, Katherine, Shannon, Shi, and possibly Joey, Loren, and Maddie.
Loren will probably be saved cause she has been the most consistent in the past.
