1. TaTynisa Wilson sang Only Girl in the World by Rihanna-- Steven liked it a lot. Jennifer told her that she brought it home. Randy thought it was okay, nothing special or different about it; I agree with Randy.

2. Naima Adedapo sang Summertime by Porgy and Bess-- Randy liked how Naima ended the song. Steven said she sounds like a new Ella Fitzgerald. I like the sound of Naima; I don't know if she is strong enough for this competition.

3. Kendra Chantelle sang Impossible by Christina Aguilera-- Randy said he really liked it and Steven called her the whole package. Jennifer thinks that Kendra can give more than that, and I agree but I think she is stronger than most of the other ladies from this season.

4. Rachel Zevita sang Criminal by Fiona Apple-- Steven found it to be too Broadway. Randy called it not good at all and said Fiona's song was unrecognizable. Jennifer said when you're on stage you have to think about what people are going to think of you.

5. Karen Rodriguez sang Hero by Mariah Carey-- Randy said she found a way to make it her own especially by bringing the Spanish into it. He said it sounded beautiful with the Spanish. Steven said I just loved it and I think you're fantastic.

6. Lauren Turner sang Seven Day Fool by Etta James-- Steven said it was like Lauren Turner meets Lauren Turner. Jennifer said her voice is undeniable. Randy said it was like Amy Winehouse meets Florence and the Machine. I think Lauren has one of the stronger voices in this competition.

7. Ashthon Jones sang Love Over Me by Monica-- Jennifer said you have the makings of a diva. Steven said you go places with your voice that other people don't go. Randy complimented on her confidence and stage presence. Ashthon should have sang something more recognizable so that people would have been able to relate more because I think she is extremely talented.

8. Julie Zorilla sang Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson-- Jennifer liked it but didn't love it. She said you needed to connect with the words more. Randy said it wasn't new, different, or better than Kelly. Steven said it was the wrong song for you.

9. Haley Reinhart sang Fallin' by Alicia Keys-- Randy said the song did nothing for you; it was karaoke. Steven said it was great and Jennifer said we saw a lot of the things that make you who you are. I like Haley but I didn't think the growling was necessary in this song.

10. Thia Megia sang Out Here On My Own by Irene Cara-- Jennifer called it captivating and Randy said her tone is like that of Michael Jackson, and that is what hot singing is all about. I have to say I enjoy Thia's quiet presence.

11. Lauren Alaina sang Turn on the Radio by Reba McEntire-- Jennifer said you're so naturally good. Randy said you don't even know how good you are, you're like Kelly meets Carrie. Steven said I love you, you're the best, your voice goes from here to there, and we haven't seen the best of you yet.

12. Pia Toscano sang I'll Stand by You by The Pretenders-- Randy said that was unbelievable and all the judges gave her a standing ovation. Steven called it gorgeous. Jennifer said I knew you were a stand out and that was out of this world. I have to say for me, that was one of the strongest performances by a female singer on American Idol ever.

American Idol Season 10: Top 24
American Idol Season 10 started off by introducing the public to the Top 24 for the first time.
On Tuesday the Top 12 Guys performed and on Wednesday the Top 12 Ladies performed; my overall opinion is that the guys outperformed the ladies by a mile. I will say that the ladies overall are more impressive than past seasons. The guys are more well rounded, they are not just singers but musicians.
These are my predictions for the Top 10 (in random order):

1. Clint Jun Gamboa sang Superstition by Stevie Wonder-- A little bit amateurish to me, it seemed like an amateur wanting to be a star. Jennifer said it was good and worked the nerves out. Randy said it wasn't karaoke.

2. Jovany Bareto sang I'll Be by Edwin McCain-- I liked this but I definitely didn't love it. Edwin McCain is a huge fan of the show and I don't know that he would have liked this. Randy said this felt very karaoke and it was not better than the original.

3. Jordan Dorsey sang OMG! by Usher-- This was painful to listen to and watch, and it's a shame because he chose the wrong song. He should have picked something like What's Goin On by Marvin Gaye or Power of Love by Luther Vandross. Jennifer said the song wasn't you. Randy called it pitchy and all over the place. Steven said this was not my favorite performance of you.

7. Robbie Rosen sang Angel by Sara McLachlin-- Steven said you sing ballads like no one's business. Jennifer said when you sing you tell a story, you are a very special singer. Randy said you never quite settled into the performance. I feel that all the judges were correct.

8. Scotty McCreery sang Letters from Home by John Michael Montgomery-- Steven said you couldn't have picked a better song. Jennifer said you are born to sing country music. Randy said he made a nice choice. I have to say that when I watch Scotty sing and when I hear him, I can tell that he has a great love for singing and music.

9. Stefano Langone sang Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars-- Steven said, loved you; you are so good. Jennifer said there's nothing awkward about you up there. Randy said keep in mind we're looking for someone who can be on the radio right now and you have that. I really liked Stefano but I don't think this was the correct choice of song for him. He may make it in based on the girls just loving him.

11. Jacob Lusk sang A House is Not A Home by Luther Vandross-- Steven said I'm honored to be in your presence, you make me wanna cry, whatever you have, I wanna bathe in it. Randy said I think we're so lucky to have you and you did Luther proud. Jennifer said Luther was my favorite of all time and he's gone, but now we have you, and that's the amazing thing about this show.

12. Casey Abrams sang I Put a Spell on You by Screamin Jay Hawkins-- Casey has the ability to make me smile when he sings no matter what he sings. Steven said in your mind good and ourof your mind real. Jennifer called him sexy and said she could tell he wants this; she loved it. Randy said you tranform yourself into the spirit of the song.

Part 2 The Top Songs of 2010
OMG!-- Usher featuring will.i.am: It didn't garner the critical reception but it did garner an enormous amount of airplay. It was arguably one of the songs of the summer along with Katy Perry's California Gurls. Many critics bashed the use of auto tune in the song but it was hard to deny that cool club thumping vibe; oh my gosh!
My fave line: Oh my gosh

The song is a full out love story, a switch for the alternative band that usually sings about despressing issues, "doom and gloom".

She has truly come full circle and is poised to make 2011 a banner year.

We love to hate him sometimes, but then there's this part of us that wants to like him cause his music is just so damn good.
Time magazine even went as far as to name it the number three song of 2010! Knowing Kanye, he probably felt it should have been number one.

Pink said she was heartbroken. If anyone can get a point across in a loud way, it's Pink, and she makes a pretty good Rosie the Riveter to boot.

It looks like 2011 will be just as successful and Moment for Life may prove to be true for Nicki.

Runaway-- Kanye West: This is the best way to describe Runaway- "In 2010, no other song was so crazily epic or jaw-droppingly gorgeous — not on the radio, not anywhere," so said Rolling Stone magazine. I remember the first time I heard Runaway and watched the video, I was absolutely mesmerized by not just ballerinas dancing but by the music and then when the lyrics started, wow. The only way to describe it is a masterpiece. My Dark Twisted Fantasy may be Kanye's best album to date.

September-- Daughtry: It's been almost five years since Chris Daughtry left the American Idol stage and in those years he has turned into a bona fied superstar. Daughtry headlines shows now and last summer the single September climbed the charts. The song was co written by Daughtry and band mate Josh Steeley and chronicles summer fading into fall and having to leave that small town to make something of yourself. Five years ago, that's exactly what Chris Daughtry was doing.

It's intense being in love and being a teenager." Teenage Dream brought out that teenager in all of us who aren't and for those who are, Perry related to them in a way many artist don't. The song not only topped pop charts but dance charts (as was made obvious by the video).

There Goes My Baby-- Usher: The second official single from Raymond vs. Raymond it earned him a Grammy award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. U Smile-- Justin Bieber: Usher's protege, this list would not be complete without a Justin Bieber song. Last week on Glee, one of the boys sang a Justin Bieber song in order to make this girl love him a little bit more, and guess what? It worked. Justin Bieber says U Smile was a throwback to all those great songs he listened to growing up. I wonder if singers will be saying the same thing about U Smile in 20 years?

Unthinkable (I'm Ready)-- Alicia Keys: Personally one of my favorite songs of all time. This song is honest, deep, and it comes from such a personal place. "For an artist who has built her career on songs about love, lust and heartache, Keys has never sounded quite as vulnerable and exposed as she does here," a sentiment expressed perfectly by Mariel Concepcion from Billboard magazine. The song was co-written by Keys, Drake, longtime friend Kerry Brothers Jr., and Noah "40" Shebib. Drake's musical influence is definitely noticeable on the track; Keys promised there would be more of her and Drake in the future. Let's hope.

What's My Name-- Rihanna feat. Drake: It's the collaboration that everyone wanted to happen all year, but no one was sure it would happen. Rihanna and Drake had a rumored romance in which Rihanna broke it off with the Canadian rapper just as he started to get serious about her. The song brings to light their flirty nature with one another, even more evident in the video. Rihanna even goes as far as saying, "he's the only person I thought would really understand the melody of the song".

September-- Daughtry: It's been almost five years since Chris Daughtry left the American Idol stage and in those years he has turned into a bona fied superstar. Daughtry headlines shows now and last summer the single September climbed the charts. The song was co written by Daughtry and band mate Josh Steeley and chronicles summer fading into fall and having to leave that small town to make something of yourself. Five years ago, that's exactly what Chris Daughtry was doing.

Unthinkable (I'm Ready)-- Alicia Keys: Personally one of my favorite songs of all time. This song is honest, deep, and it comes from such a personal place. "For an artist who has built her career on songs about love, lust and heartache, Keys has never sounded quite as vulnerable and exposed as she does here," a sentiment expressed perfectly by Mariel Concepcion from Billboard magazine. The song was co-written by Keys, Drake, longtime friend Kerry Brothers Jr., and Noah "40" Shebib. Drake's musical influence is definitely noticeable on the track; Keys promised there would be more of her and Drake in the future. Let's hope.

Airplanes-- B.o.B. featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore: Hayley first heard the song while out on tour and recorded her part. She and B.o.B. never actually met until they sang "Airplanes" together at the MTV Video Music Awards for the first time. B.o.B. was a major Hayley fan but never expected to work with her so soon. Looks like these two have great respect for one another.
My fave line: "Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?"

Not Afraid promotes a message that anyone can appreciate, and I appreciate that he leads the way at this year's Grammys with eight nominations.

Reading over some of the critics reviews of the song gave me goose bumps; here are some of the phrases that describe the song: James Montgomery of MTV News said, "...the kind of track you'd expect to hear rattling the speakers at the massive, multi-level clubs of Europe". Bill Lamb from About.com gave the song a positive review: "Whomever might think that vocal prowess makes little difference in a mainstream pop song needs to listen once to Christina Aguilera's stellar new single "Not Myself Tonight." The electropop tune sounds like it could be a bit ordinary until the vocals really kick in about 45 seconds into the song. From that point on Christina Aguilera towers over much of the competition proving why she is frequently included in the shortest lists of today's top pop singers". What you should be watching this fall.... Part 1
I will be watching all these when they premiere, and I will give my opinions on all the winners and losers.
Monday:
8pm--- 90210 The CW Season Three is senior year at West Bev for the cast and the season begins with an earthquake. Someone doesn't fare so well by the time it's over (my money is on Javier not making it through the quake). This season is also about the fall of a group of friends, the demise of a family, the start of one relationship and the end of another.
The questions left from last season: Did Naomi get raped? And if so, is she pressing charges or will another young woman fall victim to Mr. Cannon. Are Ivy and Dixon still together and for how long? Who is coming out this season? Producers say it's Silver's boyfriend Teddy. What bad choice does Adrianna make and how does it affect her various relationships? Are Annie and Liam going to be this season's "it" couple?
Who is coming this season: The Kardashians guest star, Mekia Cox is coming back as Dixon's ex Sasha on Oct. 4th, Blair Redford joins the cast as Oscar; he proves to be a thorn in Dixon's side when it comes to his relationship with Ivy. Adrien Grenier guests with his band the Honey Brothers on the Sept. 27th episode as the musical act at Naomi's 18th Birthday. Evan Ross will guest star as Liam's half brother Charlie and he will be part of a Liam, Annie, Charlie triangle.
9pm--- There are a few choices at this time slot: Gossip Girl on the CW, Lonestar on FOX, and The Event on NBC.

How it all ended last season: Season three ended with Chuck bleeding on the street in Prague, Blair and Serena leaving to spend the summer in Paris, Nate on the rebound following a break up with Serena, and Dan finding out he fathered Georgina's bun in the oven.
How will it begin: Season four ! Dan and Vanessa are supposedly not over, even though he fathered Georgina's child. Blair still has no idea what happened to Chuck. Serena doesn't know whether or not to go back to Dan or Nate. Nate deals with unresolved feelings for Serena after meeting Juliet who is equally intriguing.
Who is coming this season: Project Runway's Tim Gunn makes an October appearance, Sam Page joins the show as Serena's new love interest and this guy is "different" from all the others she has dated. Katie Cassidy, one of the only good parts of the new Melrose Place, joins the cast in the season premiere as Juliet Sharp. She is a student at Columbia and Nate's new love interest; she does have some secrets though, but then again, doesn't everyone on Gossip Girl.
Lonestar on FOX
The Premise: "Bob/Robert Allen (James Wolk) is a charismatic and brilliant schemer who has meticulously constructed two lives" in two different parts of Texas. As Bob he lives in Houston and is married to Cat, and he works for Cat's father Clint Thatcher, patriarch of a rich Texas oil family. His plan is to establish himself in the family business and then clean it out.

Bob/Robert begins to fear the cops are closing in on him... how long can he get away with this scheme? Realistically, how long can this show stay afloat? Watch and see.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 7!
These are all my favorite dances from Season 7! There were so many great ones, and it was hard to choose a Top 10 or Top 20 dances so I decided to just pick all my favorites and briefly tell you why.
Week 1
Cristina and Mark danced a jazz routine by Sonya Tayek to Starstuck by Santigold--- why was it amazing? because Nigel said she danced tremendously and Mark brought out the best in her. Mia said she was partnered with the best and was proud of her for how well she did. Adam said he was stunned and didn't think it was going to work as well as it did.

Alex and Allison danced a contemporary routine by Sonya Tayek to Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley--- why was it amazing? one reason it that the judges were on their feet in week 1! Nigel told Alex he set a new standard for So You Think You Can Dance. Mia said it was the best ever. Adam said the dancers upped the choreographers game.

Robert and Courtney danced an African routine by Sean Cheesman to Norweg by Cirque Du Soliel--- why was it amazing? Robert Roldan grew arguably more than any other dancer on SYTYCD this season, and this was just the beginning of his greatness. Adam called him one of the best contemporary dancers.

Because Ashley developed her choreography, and Mia said she was a cut above all the other female dancers in the competition. Jose and Anya danced a Samba routine by Dmitry Chaplin to Long Time by Shakira--- why was it amazing? Nigel said that Jose possesses a smile and charisma that no one can teach; he has magic in his eyes. He also said that Jose controlled Anya in the routine. Mia called him humble, open, and joyful.

Alex and Twitch danced a hop hop routine by Tabitha and Napoleon to Outta Your Mind by Lil Jon-- why was it amazing? Well for one, it was arguably one of the best performances in SYTYCD history! And now I have to quote the judges:

Mia Michaels: Who the hell are you? You have defied everything about the ballet world. I am completely shocked.
Nigel Lythgoe: To Nappy Tabs: The best routine you’ve ever done on the show. At the end of the day this is a ballet dancer doing the most incredible hip-hop routine.

Lauren and Pasha danced a cha cha by Jean Marc Genereux and France to Telephone by Lady Gaga and Beyonce--- why was it amazing? Mia called her hot. Adam said she was sharp, specific, and strong.

Jose and Lauren danced a contemporary routine by Mandy Moore to Never Tear Us Apart by INXS--- why was it amazing? I felt like this was one of the most real performances of the season. Nigel asked Jose how it felt dancing with Lauren, and he said it felt amazing. Nigel told him he accepted the challenge of SYTYCD and he delivered tonight and brings so much joy. Mia told Jose she believed every step he took and there was so little ego. Adam said he is one of the most beloved contestants on the show.

Two, it showed what a great contemporary dancer Kent is. Three, it showed what a great contemporary choreographer Travis is. Mia called it stunning, gorgeous, there was a connection, and technique. Adam felt it was so real that he shouldn't be watching.

Adechike and Anya danced a salsa routine by Liz Lira and Danny Davalos to Oyelo Que Te Conviene by Eddie Palmieri--- why was it amazing? I saw tricks I have never seen before. Mia, of all people, thought it was amazing. Anya called it the fastest salsa she has never seen. Adam called his performance great and said he was there for Anya every second.

Robert and Allison danced a contemporary routine by Travis to Fix You by Coldplay--- why was it amazing? The judges gave a standing ovation and Nigel said if people don't vote for Robert there is something wrong. It was a perfect routine with the perfect choreographer with one of the best dancers ever on SYTYCD. Mia said, Robert you were stellar, and this took me back to when my mom was sick. Adam said Travis, if you don't get an Emmy nomination for this; there is no God. Adam said it will definitely be one of these performances of the season.

Billy and Anya danced a jive by Louis Van Amstel to Paradise by the Dashboard Light by Meatloaf--- why was it amazing? One of the judges used the phrase "sex bomb" and Billy, for the first time, really connected with a female dancer. Adam called it his fave Billy performance thus far.

Adam said, Lauren the guys have something to be scared of.

Mia, of all people, thought it was amazing. Anya called it the fastest salsa she has never seen. Adam called his performance great and said he was there for Anya every second.
